Destination iraq aims to fill the gaping void that those thinking of visiting this fascinating country often have to peer into.

With years of experience travelling and working in-country, we still have a western perspective which, we think, enables us to understand and anticipate the kind of questions prospective travellers from around the world might have. Basically, we’ve tried to do some of the hard work for you without spoiling the adventures that await.

This is not a “how-to” guide to travelling around Iraq, as each person has their own idea of how they prefer to travel. We would much rather let you experience the wonders and complexities of this fascinating country however you wish, be that independently, with a guide or with a tour group. Instead, we try to offer some practical information by charting some of our own experiences travelling around Iraq. If we haven’t done it, we won’t be writing about it. 

Whether you’ve already booked your tickets, are thinking of visiting at some distant future point, or if you’re just interested in finding out more about Iraq than alarmist news headlines, we hope you enjoy reading our posts.
